Image

GSTR-9 & GSTR-9C for FY 2025–26 Are Live: Start Early and Reconcile Before Filing

Image
GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for FY 2025–26 are now available on the GST portal, as shown in the portal update shared. Businesses should begin preparing their annual return and reconciliation statement well before the December rush. The filing due date is 31 December 2026 , subject to any notified extension. This follows the annual-return timeline prescribed under the GST framework. CGST Rule 80 Before filing, pay close attention to three areas: reconciliation, pending input tax credit, and the rate changes during the financial year. Reconcile carefully—GSTR-9 cannot be revised once filed. GSTN’s guidance confirms that a filed annual return cannot be revised. Compare your books with GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, review credit and debit notes, and investigate differences in turnover, tax liability, and ITC before submitting the return. Treat auto-populated figures as a starting point for verification. GSTN’s GSTR-9 FAQs Claim eligible pending ITC before filing the annual return. Under Section 16(4), the ...

GST FAQs

Image
आधिकारिक जानकारी _________________________________________________________________________________ #GST #EInvoice #EInvoicing #GSTIndia #GSTCompliance #EInvoiceLimit #FY2026_27 #GSTUpdates #IRN #B2B #GSTHindi #ईइनवॉइस #जीएसटी

Image

How Is GST Interest Calculated? A Simple Guide with Examples

Image
A delayed GST payment can add to your business costs. Understanding how interest works helps you calculate the amount accurately and plan your payments better. The calculation needs three inputs: the amount on which interest applies, the annual interest rate, and the number of days involved. What is GST interest? GST interest arises when tax remains unpaid beyond its due date. Interest can also apply when input tax credit (ITC) has been wrongly availed and utilised. For delayed tax payments, interest generally starts from the day after the payment due date. For wrongly availed and utilised ITC, the relevant period runs from utilisation until reversal or payment, as prescribed under Rule 88B. GST interest handbook Which interest rate applies? The general annual rate is 18% for delayed GST payments and 18% for wrongly availed and utilised ITC . The infographic’s 24% figure for ITC needs updating: the notified rate was reduced to 18%, retrospectively from 1 July 2017. Merely availing inc...

Image

GST LITIGATION | GSTR-1 vs GSTR-3B

Image
GST LITIGATION | GSTR-1 vs GSTR-3B Can a GST demand be raised merely because GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B do not match? A mismatch is a starting point for verification not necessarily proof of tax evasion. Before confirming a demand, the actual reason for the difference must be established. It may arise from amendment of invoices, credit notes, reporting in a different tax period, timing differences or genuine clerical errors. Before accepting a mismatch-based demand, reconcile: GSTR-1 → GSTR-3B → Books → Tax Invoices → E-invoices → E-way Bills → Tax Payment The officer should examine the underlying transactions, rather than treating a system-generated difference as conclusive evidence of short payment. If fraud or suppression is alleged, the Department must also establish the statutory ingredients and supporting facts required for invoking the applicable provision. A GST mismatch deserves an explanation but a mismatch by itself should not become the conclusion. #GST #GSTLitigation #GSTR1 #GSTR3...
